IBM enhances range of Power10 Scale-Out Models

IBM has announced new models of its Power10 server line with the introduction of mid-range and scale-out systems, adding to the Power10 E1080 server introduced in 2021.

Built around the next-generation IBM Power10 processor, the expanded portfolio has twice the number of cores and memory bandwidth than previous Power generations.

New 1- or 2-socket scale-out servers include the entry-level Power S1014, as well as S1022, and S1024 options, bringing enterprise capabilities to remote-office/branch office environments.

Now organizations have more ways to create business agility with a flexible and secure hybrid cloud infrastructure, plus they can modernize applications with Red Hat OpenShift and automate IT operations to improve productivity.

IBM Power10 systems are designed to support hybrid cloud adoption and support three operating environments – AIX, IBM i, and Linux — with the same security, availability, and scalability features.

Some example use cases to take advantage of IBM Power10 servers range include:

• consolidating Oracle workloads on fewer servers and cores with lower software licensing costs
• faster provisioning, affordable scaling and maximum uptime for SAP HANA workloads
• more efficient AI inferencing by building and running AI inferencing models on the same system as the data
